always_ff @(posedge clk) begin

I had always thought that programming was just something that was not meant for me. For some, it clicked; for me, it didn’t. I don’t know how many times my sister tried explaining what an object was…seriously I have lost count. Being a twin, I figured she got one side and me the other. As if going with that line of thought, I ended up getting my degree in Art and Technology and pursuing promotional design, where as she got her degree in Electrical Engineering and became a FPGA engineer (it’s how my blog structure got its influence :)). 

Fast forward some years and it was, I believe, the summer of 2019; a couple of my friends and I decided to spend our Saturday at Mt. Tam and during the ride over one of them mentioned some problem he had come across at work. He ended his thought with “…I don’t know it, yet.” This has stuck in my brain and till now I use it whenever I feel overwhelmed/confused/(you name it). I decided I’d try one last attempt and enrolled in an ‘Intro to Computer Science – C++’ class at my local community college and I guess at this point is when people would say “the rest is history”?! 

Making that decision to enroll in that class, (after the various quarters) debating whether to switch fields, these thoughts always conjure up in my mind a picture of a long, steep hill. When thinking about it, it’s always so daunting and seems impossible. You start having all these thoughts; “how long will this take?”, “it seems so strenuous.”, “will I even make it?”, and so on so forth. The doubts and fears are endless. 

But then, there’s always two sides to a coin. The other side says that regardless if you want it or not, time will not stop so what does it matter how long it takes? In the time that passes, the only thing that changes is whether you learnt something new or you didn’t. That hill symbolizes any huge task or undertaking. It will seem impossible, but like anything and everything in life, you take it and break it up into manageable portions, taking it a step at a time. Keeping that in mind, it has been quite a trek to this point, but an enjoyable one and I am looking forward to all new skills that will be picked up this quarter. The scope still seems quite challenging, but as stated before, it’s just knowing that the important part is taking that next step.
