Financial Analysis and Completed Term

The end of this term leaves me with mixed feelings. I have thoroughly enjoyed this class, even the parts of it that were challenging. Professor Van Londen’s feedback and helpfulness was always so great to have, plus the material we covered was excellent. I loved what I learned here around gender gaps, women in STEM fields, cyborg theory, etc. Lots of new information to someone like myself who had little previous knowledge on some of these topics.

The financial analysis also proved to be so educational for me, as I learned that my dream trip is a possibility and I also learned a little about spreadsheets and how to set up a proper budget. I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned this term into the future with me.

Gender Lens recap

This project was really excellent and informative. I feel like I’ve learned so much more about a device that is such a big part of my life.

At times, I felt that I wasn’t getting enough information. But overall, it was a great project. I’m excited to move on to the Financial Analysis project next!

RSS Feed

Setting up the RSS feed was really cool! I had no idea how to do that before and it’s exciting to know how for future reference. I feel like my blog is looking more and more professional and interesting.

Week Two

It’s been a good week. The blog setup is coming along and I like how it turned out overall. Adding categories was confusing but I figured it out. I also liked picking out a theme. I like the setup of the theme I chose, but I’m not crazy about the displayed photos at the header, so I may try to change those. Overall, I consider it a successful week with the work in this class. Now I’m excited to dive into more interesting work!

Week 1 Post

  1. The setup experience so far has been rather tricky! I’m not familiar with WordPress at all, so I’m a little confused at every turn, but hoping I’m doing it correctly. In the past, I’ve only ever used blogger or tumblr for any sort of blogging. WordPress is a whole new world!
  2. Setting up an email signature is something I know how to do, but had never really done before. I’m simply come across the option when exploring email settings.
  3. I’m not a fan of text-to-speech at all. On my iPhone, it always pronounces things in a weird way (but it’s also really funny sometimes). Plus it doesn’t really help me absorb information better than I would if I were reading it. I think it’s an excellent feature though for people who need to hear things read to them. I like that it’s an option.
