Setting the Table: My Greatest Success for the Capstone Project

I made my greatest success early in the quarter when I set up our group’s project plan and GitHub repositories for the SafeSave project. From the start, I wanted to make sure that all of our group’s early setup was done correctly to allow my teammates and me to succeed for the rest of the quarter. I took the initiative to take the lead on the Project Plan because I understood that the key to a successful project was having a clear idea of what our project should do and how it should work. I made sure our Project Plan was thoroughly detailed and contained all the information that our group needed to implement for our project, and I believe that the Project Plan I created formed a clear path for all the work our team needed to accomplish this quarter.

Beyond this, I also set up our group’s initial GitHub repository to give everyone ownership of individual parts of the project that would eventually integrate into the whole web application system that would become SafeSave. Setting up our GitHub wasn’t an entirely new process for me since I had set up GitHub repositories for classes in the past, but this GitHub repository was definitely the largest and most complex repository that I had to create for a project so far. There were definitely kinks in the process along the way (primarily related to version control for the team), but for the most part, the GitHub repository that I created at the start of the quarter was an effective means of organizing the team’s codebase under one system. I am very proud of the work our team has accomplished over the course of the quarter, and I thoroughly believe that the hard work that I did at the start of the quarter to set up our team’s foundation was crucial in the success our team saw for the project as a whole.
