About OSU Advisor Coffee Talks

The Coffee Talks were started in 2010 as an informal venue where OSU advisors, both faculty and professional, could come together to engage in dialogue about best practices within the field of academic advising.

All advisors and student services professionals are welcome to come, listen, share and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea while networking with campus peers. Our monthly discussions  have a very brief opening statement by the guest speaker on a selected topic, and the remainder of the session is open for discussion and/or questions.  Once each term we host a longer professional development session usually involving a formal presentation or training opportunity in addition to discussion and practice.

This blog was started as a way to capture some of the amazing presentations and discussions from past Coffee Talks in a quick and accessible way.  Anyone can request to post a training/event of interest to this blog, as long as they are willing to serve as the ‘person to contact’ for more information. We also invite guest bloggers to submit posts on topics of interest.  For more information, please contact one of the individuals on the Advisor Coffee Talks committee.
