I will have to say there were a whole lot of great things that I learned from this class. And to have the last post to be about the most important thing that I learned, is a bit unfair. As everything is equally important. From things to laws in discrimination, job description, and even the ways that you hire are all important. But for the sake of the post I will talk about what I think is the most important and why I think it is so important.
The most important thing that I have learned about in this class has to be about the different laws and legislatures that are in place when it comes to discrimination in the hiring process. We live in an era where people are becoming more and more aware of the injustices that are happening within the world. And this is also present in the hiring process for individuals that are seeking jobs to feed their families. So having a refresher on things such as protected identities, BFOQ, and the Civil Rights Act provides great and useful information, even outside the hiring process. A mistake in these areas can get you and the company that you are working for in a lot of trouble and having that information is great so you can pass that down to others so that they do not make any major mistakes. Additionally, all the other points such as how you hire, job descriptions, and many other things are dependent on this factor as all of these parts can have problems with the law. You have to make sure that campus recruiter are not prone to discrimination, make sure that ads are not targeted toward individuals that are not disadvantaged, and that the job description does not display any discriminatory actions.
Again, this was a great class to end off my college career and I really wish everyone the best of luck in their endeavor
