OSU Juntos Program, we want to help!

Brief Professional Biography:
Hi, my name is Yuridia Reyes, my pronouns are her/she/Ella. I work for the OSU Open Campus/Juntos program. Juntos is a multi-component program intentionally designed to transform pathways to higher education for Latinx youth and their families by bringing the families and educational institutions together.

Brief Personal and Professional Biography:
Yuridia Reyes arrived at Oregon State University in 2014 as a first-generation college student. She was one of the few students from her high school to pursue higher education and one of a handful that had chosen OSU. Many people, programs and departments stood by her and and welcomed her, including as a student worker for Juntos, an OSU Extension Open Campus college-access program that engages Latino students’ families in learning about post-secondary pathways and making college a family goal. Yuridia faced adversity at OSU and made sense of her new life as a Latina student on a predominantly white campus. She says that leveling the playing field, building community and having mentors believe in her were essential and critical in her college retention and professional success after graduating from OSU. Last June, her journey with Juntos made a full circle. She joined OSU Extension as an OSU Open Campus/Juntos program coordinator. She brings to the position her values that embody her philosophy as a leader motivated to work with first-generation students, transfer students and Latinx students and their families.
