The annual ‘Food Meetings,’ a joint annual endeavor of the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) and the Agriculture, Food, and Human Values Society (AFHVS) is so much more than an academic conference. It’s a gathering that aims to honor the expertise of humanistic and agricultural academics, practitioners, farmers, activists, food sovereignty advocates, chefs, eaters, and others interested in food. The 2025 meeting theme, Food Cultures & Social Justice, invites participants to celebrate diversity and resilience of cultural expression, grapple with the expression of systems of oppression, and imagine alternative ways of being in relationship with each other and the planet, all through food. To help us achieve these goals, we welcome financial and in-kind donations from businesses, nonprofits, and individuals.
Your Contribution Will Help Us:
- Showcase local BIPOC farmers and restaurateurs in the food served to attendees at the welcome reception, lunches, and banquet
- Waive registration fees and travel costs for high-level keynote speaker and leaders of roundtables on Indigenous Foodways, Black Foodways, Farm & Food Workers
- Comp registration fees for student and low-income meeting participants
- Offer excursions to local and regional food sites
- Serve delicious and bountiful Oregon foods
