For the Holmes-Rahe Life Stress Inventory I scored a 95, therefore indicating a relatively low amount of life change and low susceptibility to stress-induced health breakdown. As far as the Coping and Stress Management Skills Test I scored a 75 which indicates Problem-Focused Coping. Lastly, in the Type A Personality Test I scored a 38, Impatience/Irritability.
The results of all three tests aren’t surprising to me. I work continually on things I feel could be improved in my personality and used to much more impatient, stubborn, and resistant to change. I have a Type A personality but work to soften it as I have learned over time and experience that it is better to be patient and warm to others, it is a much more mature approach to life and I don’t like seeing qualities that are harsh in others. I exercise to manage stress and have recently started yoga and meditation practices which work quite well.
At my current organization there is much emphasis on help with mental illness and stress. We have a app called MOBE where you can talk to a counselor anytime and they help you track other techniques to eliminate stress. There are also yoga classes at work and provided at studios in town. It is great that companies are realizing more and more that stress and work life balance are so vitally important, especially in healthcare as you are helping others and sometimes neglect themselves as they are so laser focused on helping everyone else
