The OSU West Coast Swing Club is happy to present our spring term professionals: Ben Morris and Melissa Rutz. The two will be in Corvallis, Oregon the weekend of April 29 – May 1. The Partnership
Ben and Melissa began their partnership in 2010. Since then they have competed in the US Swing Dance Open and won fourth place with their West Coast Swing Classic Routine.Ben Morris
Both a Champion Lindy Hopper and a Champion West Coast Swing Dancer; Ben Morris began swing dancing at the age of 12 and is now a 2 time World Swing Dance Champion, 3 time U.S. Open Swing Dance Champion, Spirit of Lindy Hop award winner, a California Swing Dance Hall of Fame award winner, and a featured dancer in the movie Love N’ Dancing and the Leann Rimes Music Video “Swingin.” He currently lives in Orange, California, but travels all over the United States and the world, to teach, compete, judge, and perform. He’s known for his fun dance style, infectious personality, and enjoyable workshops.Melissa Rutz
Melissa has been dancing for 22 years. She began her training at age four. Three years later, Melissa found herself at the prestigious and rigorous San Francisco Ballet School for seven years under the direction of Lola DeAvila. Melissa is known for her versatility as a dancer. She has performed in a variety of solo works on stage as well as ont he industrial scene. melissa had the pleasure of working as Christina Aguilera’s dance double in her music video, Candyman. You can also watch Melissa dance on the big screen in the movie, Love N’ Dancing.Schedule
