Week 2 Blog:Discrimination

My favorite company is a local coffee shop in Corvallis. In the scenario that widespread discriminatory practices have been uncovered, my opinion of the company will shift greatly after this discovery. First it would start with my personal value system that would place the respect of all individuals above anything else, especially in the workplace. If this company got caught in a big lawsuit, my entire image of the company will change forever. My moral and personal ethical values dictate that I will not work in an environment that is discriminatory in any way, shape, or form. My support of companies shifts rapidly depending on the current information that I have regarding the reputation of the company in question. Even though this is my favorite coffee shop here in town, my personal morals and ethics would stop me from supporting this company in any way. In regards to the question of if I could ever work for a company with accusations like this, I would immediately pull my application from submission and deny all ties to that company. Standing by a company accused of being so atrocious in regards to the workplace, makes sure that I will never work for that company if I have any choice in the matter! Even coming from a strictly non-personal values standpoint, if a specific type of employee is treated discriminatory, what do you think happens to everyone else who is working in the workplace? Overall I would never support or work for a company that is accused of widespread discrimination based upon ethnicity, culture,or belief system no matter what!
