Week 9 Blog Assignment

After completing the assigned tests, I got the results that I expected saying that I generally approach situations calmly and that I do not allow stress to overwhelm me. My score of 95 on the Life Stress Inventory was well below the 150 level considered normal. Individuals scoring below 150 typically face a low risk of stress-related illness or accidents (Life Stress Questionnaire) . I scored 6 out of 100 on the stress test, indicating that I currently experience very little stress in my daily life. My Type A personality score was 43 out of 100, suggesting that I do not strongly display typical Type A personality traits.

As I continue to grow in my professional career, I will likely face more stressful situations due to the increasing workload and responsibility that my position may require over time. To prepare myself to handle these challenges, I will need to develop strong stress-management habits. Strategies such as exercise, staying organized, maintaining a healthy sleep schedule, and practicing relaxation techniques can help reduce stress and improve my mental well-being. The Life Stress Questionnaire recommends physical exercise, meditation, and maintaining a positive attitude as effective ways to reduce stress and maintain overall health. My future employers will likely also provide resources that promote health and wellness. Many organizations recognize the importance of helping employees manage stress. Companies provide wellness programs, mental health support, and flexible work arrangements. Authors Berry, Mirabito, and Buan explain that workplace wellness programs can improve employee health while increasing productivity and lowering healthcare costs. Research shows that employees value benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and wellness initiatives when evaluating jobs (Jones). These programs demonstrate that organizations understand how closely employee well-being is connected to job performance.

These assessments helped me learn more about my personality and how I approach stressful situations. While I generally experience low to moderate stress levels, building healthy coping strategies will help me manage any challenges that arise and achieve greater productivity throughout my professional career.
