My Stress Management Journey

After taking the three surveys, I have discovered that I am a mix between a Type A and a Type B individual. On a stress level scale from 0-100, I land roughly in the middle sitting at 44/100. Additionally, I scored a 265 on the Life Stress Questionnaire, representing that I have a 50:50 chance of accidents or illnesses.

Based on these results, I can see how my stress and constant worry that I may not be doing enough, can be detrimental towards my overall mental health, as well as my professional growth. Moving forward, I plan on utilizing tools to aid in managing these stress levels, such as reframing the way I view negative situations to be learning opportunities rather than setbacks. (Psychology Today) Additionally, continuing mentally relaxing activities such as yoga, working out, journaling, and meditation, will all be extremely beneficial to managing stressful moments.

Many organizations are actively working on addressing reoccurring issues such as employee burnout, mental health challenges, and high levels of stress by implementing wellness programs. This can include mental health benefits included in their packages, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), and encouraging a collaborative, inclusive, and caring workplace environment and culture. Additionally, allowing for flexibility and autonomy in scheduling, can be a minor but extremely impactful adjustment. Allowing remote or hybrid work schedules has shown to be extremely beneficial in terms of employee burnout, therefore, improving the overall levels of workplace satisfaction and mental health levels. Overall, there are many routes to improve an individuals mental health and stress levels. With a constant increase of employee burnout due to high stress levels in the workplace, companies are implemented stronger and more applicable processes and strategies to ensure they are doing their role in supporting their hard working employees.
