Understanding Myself as a Loyalist (6w5)

I took the Enneagram personality test and got Type 6 with a 5 wing also called The Loyalist. According to the test Type 6s are always trying to find something steady to hold onto. I read that we usually feel anxious or unsure which is most definitely true for me. I’m a pretty loyal person once I feel like I can trust someone but getting to that point takes time. The test also said that I tend to imagine worst case scenarios, which is very true for me which makes me a good problem solver but can sometimes make it hard to relax. What stood out the most was how Type 6s can either react to fear by avoiding it (phobic) or by facing it head-on (counterphobic). I think I have a bit of both depending on the situation. I’m careful with decisions and I like having a backup plan. This test helped me see how my drive to feel safe influences a lot of how I think and act.

If an employer looked at my test results they would probably see a dependable and committed team member. Type 6s are loyal and hardworking especially when we feel supported and trust the people around us. We’re also known for being prepared and good at spotting problems before they happen which could be useful in jobs that need strong planning or risk management. On the downside employers might notice that I sometimes overthink or worry too much especially when I feel unsure about my role. That said if I have good leadership and clear expectations, I usually thrive. I think employers would see that I take my work seriously and ask thoughtful questions and care about doing things the right way. I’m always paying attention and ready to help. Knowing this about myself also helps me understand what kind of work environment I’ll do best in one where I feel supported, trusted, and part of a team.
