The job that I currently is my first job and I am still working in the same company or organization. Flashback to the recruiting process, because the job is on campus and the hiring application was on the website that is from Oregon State University. When I saw the job that was from the community that I am currently working on, I was pretty curios about it because the title was “Event and Program Specialist”. From the title itself was pretty interesting and made me want to know more about the job. Then, I saw the job description of that job position. For me personally, the job description was like the quick brief explanation or lists of the expectations from the company or organization toward us as the employees. Just like a movie that has trailer before we watch the full movie. After reading the job description, I felt like the job was pretty interesting and sounded fun fore me as the beginner who at that time was looking and wanted to work as part time worker on campus. Also, I do believe that my skills are met with the job description or required skills that they were looking for that job. The job description was pretty influential toward the decision that we made especially to apply for the position. It is because if the job description is not interesting or sounds pretty heavy to do or boring, it will make us as the candidate to have a concern before applying it. Moreover, since I have been working at the community for more than 1 year, I feel it is pretty close enough the job that I am doing with the job description that I saw on the application portal, actually the job that I am doing is more interesting and wider. The job description and the job that I am doing it right now are pretty similar in doing the role as event and program specialist. Where, on the job description, I would have an experience in leadership and I am having it by leading several programs like facilitating in the one of the service projects on Saturday of Service, be the primary facilitator for Community Dialogue, and other events. Additionally, on the job description, it said that I can get more experience in shaping my communication skill, and I am having it by making and trying to maintain a good relationship with our community partners. The only thing that is differentiate the job description with the job that I am doing it is, the job that I am doing it is wider and more challenging. On the job description, it did not say anything about marketing or advertising. However, I am assigned to handle the marketing and adverting things in the community and that is not on the job description that I saw when I was applying to the job.
