If I saw a news article saying Nike was facing a public lawsuit for widespread discrimination against a group I associate with, it would definitely change how I felt about the company. Nike has always been one of my favorite brands—not just because of their products, but because of what they seem to stand for. They’ve built a reputation around innovation, performance, and pushing for social change. So if I found out they were involved in something that went completely against those values, it would be disappointing and honestly hard to look past.
It would absolutely influence my decision to support the company. Even though I like their gear and style, I care about how companies treat people. If the claims were true and showed a pattern of discrimination, I wouldn’t feel good about continuing to buy their products or represent their brand. I think it’s important to hold companies accountable and not just ignore something because the brand is popular.
As for applying to work there in the future, that would definitely change too. I’ve always thought Nike would be a cool place to work, but I wouldn’t want to be part of a company that doesn’t respect people like me or others I care about. Company culture and values matter, and I’d rather work somewhere that practices what it preaches.
In the end, it comes down to trust. If a company loses that, it’s hard to keep supporting them the same way.
