The Case for Recruitment & Selection

After going over Staffing and the Case for Recruitment and Selection, I can see why the Who decision is such a big deal. Hiring the right people is what can make a company successful or not. But I still think there are times when other areas like marketing or product development might deserve more attention and resources especially in the early stages of a business. For example if a company is trying to launch a product and make a name for itself, it makes sense that they’d invest more into branding and product quality first. If no one is buying your product or even knows it exists, then it won’t matter how talented your employees are. So in some cases I think it’s strategic to lead with a strong product and build the team as you go. One strength of this approach is that it can get the business off the ground faster. You bring in revenue first then use that money to improve hiring later. But a big risk is that if you don’t have the right people from the start you can run into major issues like bad customer service, poor communication, or even burnout from the staff you do have. Long term that can hurt your company’s reputation. So while recruitment is definitely important, I think it’s more about timing and balance. Some companies may not start there but eventually, they’ll have to come back to it if they want to grow the right way.
