Grand Gold award certificate for OSU's redesigned home page
CASE awards only one Grand Gold certificate in each category. OSU's home page was recognized for "best overall website."

OSU’s redesigned home page brought home a Grand Gold Award from the Council for the Support and Advancement of Education (CASE) at the annual conference where winners in a number of communications categories are selected from hundreds of entries from colleges and universities across the western U.S. and Canada.

This is especially rewarding given the fact that the home page was a collaborative project that had contributions from all over campus in both advisory and technical roles. The design and development was implemented through a communications and IT partnership that brought the Web Communications and Central Web Services teams together.

Lead graphic designer on the project, Truen Pence, was singled out as a CASE Rising Star for his portfolio of strong work and his community collaboration and leadership.

Congrats to all who worked on the project. It’s great to see teamwork recognized.

Through partnering with Central Web Services, we were recently able to bring a robust, branded theme to WordPress. This has been a tool that has been missing from our kit to to date. We’ve had older themes in place, but none of them followed the Brand guidelines.

This new theme is designed for creating a blog or online newsletter that complements your Web presence. You can even run a small site on it as WordPress functions like a basic CMS. The College of Pharmacy already has this theme up and running. And in fact, we’re now using it in this blog as well.

You can read more about the theme and how to use it in the Web section of the Brand Guidelines.
