Just heard about this on Twitter. Can you share some “getting started” tips for other universities wanting to create a channel on YouTube? I heard YouTube was rejecting most university requests for channels claiming they weren’t non-profits afterall or something like that.
Can you also share the job description for the new position being created? There’s a lot of talk about this in higher ed (especially with highered tweeps).

There’s a difference between higher ed partners on YouTube and nonprofit partners. I had to chase emails around until that was straightened out. We were rejected for the nonprofit program as well, although the features are essentially the same. In thinking of a YouTube channel for your institution, it’s good to start lining up the content. We’ve got literally thousands of great videos, but it’s time consuming getting them converted and in shape. We’re still figuring out what our strategy is going to be for the YT page, so we’re in launch and learn mode right now.
I’ll post our Social Media Specialist description here as soon as it’s cleared, so check back.
Thanks!
