Week 6 Blog:
One class that stood out to me the most was one i took last year, it was Managing Individual and Team Performance. It was one of the classes i learned the most in. The instructor was very relatable and was able to connect our personal experiences to the material we were learning. We didn’t just hear lectures, but we were able to apply the things we were learning to activities, studies and then were able to reflect. Being so hands on and involving it with my personal life made the content very understandable.
This does connect with this weeks content, learning about effective training design and how people learned best when there was meaningful, interactive content that connects with our goals. I think that is what made the class so beneficial. We also got feedback on all of our projects throughout the term so we were able to further our learning, which ties into Kirkpatricks model, that effective training should lead to real changes in behavior and performance, not just short term.
I will say that i do and did also have classes that did not work well for me. They were very reading/slides and quiz heavy so there wasn’t much connection with the content and real life. I will say the trainings and classes that are the most important are the active, real and engaging.
