When I looked at the 2025 Fortune Best Companies to Work For list, three companies that stood out were Marriott International, Delta Air Lines, and IHG Hotels & Resorts. Each shows how good HR practices can make a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and motivated.
At Marriott International, employees talk about feeling welcome and proud of the work they do. Marriott focuses on training, career growth, and giving people responsibility. This connects to what we learned in class about how managers need to give employees the right skills and motivation so they can succeed and help the company reach its goals.

Delta Air Lines is another strong example. Employees say they feel cared for, proud of their work, and part of a team. Delta’s HR practices focus on community, long-term careers, and treating people with respect. This matches the idea that managers don’t just assign tasks—they also shape the culture and help employees feel connected to their work.
At IHG Hotels & Resorts, employees talk about teamwork, support, and balance between work and life. IHG encourages growth, celebrates achievements, and makes sure people feel included. These HR practices make employees feel they are doing meaningful work while also being supported in their personal lives.
From these examples, I know I would like to be a manager who is supportive, fair, and motivating. I want to create an environment where employees feel like their work matters and they can grow. I also connect this to my own career goals; I want to own my own teriyaki sauce company one day. My parents run a successful Hawaiian restaurant in San Diego, and I’ve seen how important it is to build a positive workplace where employees feel respected and motivated. The most challenging part for me as a manager will likely be handling conflicts and balancing different needs, but using HR tools like training, feedback, and clear expectations can help.
These companies show that when HR focuses on people first, employees are happier and more engaged, and the company becomes stronger.
