I have chosen Josephine Cochran, the inventor of the dishwasher, for the topic of my Culture Site project.

Josephine Cochran was born March 8th, 1839 in Ashtabula County Ohio. She was a rich woman and never had to wash any of her own dishes but thought her servants could do the work faster if they had a machine that could wash the dishes without chipping them.

Frustrated that no one else had invented such a machine Josephine was quoted as saying  “If nobody else is going to invent a dishwashing machine, I’ll do it myself!(”.
