What does stress say about you?
When taking the three tests that were provided, one important thing I learned about myself is needing to learn how to manage my stress. Unfortunately, this has been a difficult habit of mine. I have noted that I need to change. When I completed “Type A Personality Survey” the major thing that stuck out to me was when it mentioned my warmth and tolerance is at times tinged with impatience and hostility.
I notice this especially when I’m at work and certain things on my schedule are not aligning. For example, being in charge of eight cardiovascular technician schedules can come with unexpected situations. These can include low staffing, overload of inpatient echocardiograms, which can then affect outpatient scans, all while being booked till mid-February. Additionally, with a busy schedule comes special requests. One of those is scheduling urgent patients on a short notice. Most of these requests come from work colleagues although I understand the importance of needing to schedule these patients. I still find myself frustrated at times with the set expectations needed from me. Furthermore, in order to manage my stress at work I’m going to take the time to get as much details as I can. This way I am mentally prepared for what is needed from me without feeling overwhelmed.

What Else Can Stress Affect
Additionally with research it has been noted common health condition employers should be on alert for is chronic diseases. This can include diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac conditions, and mental health. All which can be related and affect the cost of production, absenteeism, and economic impacts for organizations. Furthermore, organizations have taken steps to assist employees in these circumstances by creating “Holistic Workplace Well-Being” programs. These programs focus on an employee’s mental, emotional, social, and financial well-being. It has also been noted organizations who include these programs have reduced absenteeism by 25%.

Overall, taking the tests and doing my own research has persuaded me to take different approaches when it comes to handling stress. In my line of work, it is important to be mentally focused and clear in order to be productive daily.
