Why I Left A Job

After college I accepted a job at an auto body shop. I was the office administrator. Basically I answered the phone, set up appointments, greeted customers, and performed other office duties. I was making minimum wage and could not  afford to move out, but I understand that at a first job after college I would not be paid that much.

At probably four months I asked my supervisor if I could get a raise. But since the branch I worked at was new a raise was not possible. I was doing the same thing over and over each day and I wanted to challenge myself but there was no way to do that. I was also the only female at the branch from November to late March. I felt a little out of place. I ended up leaving that job after seven months. I think compensation motivated this behavior because I was not making enough money to see the value in staying at that job. I did ask if a raise was possible so I know that door was already closed. There was no other motivating factor that pulled me to stay at the job. The compensation was a big part of the job for me because I was trying to save enough money to move out. I am glad I left because it taught me to understand when it is time to leave a job. It worked out because a couple months after I left I got accepted into OSU!
