The Case for Recruitment & Selection
There are a variety of different reasons as to why organizations might decide to allocate more resources toward marketing or product design rather than using those same resources to do a really good job in employee recruitment or selection. One of the biggest reasons is due to the companies views on how to allocate their resources to say the least. It can truly depend on the company’s values and what they can be considered competitive in. Oftentimes if a company is competitive in an industry where their product needs to be reamped or needs to become stronger they will most likely put more effort or emphasis into this product or even their service. To add to the last point, sometimes companies also do not need an extra employee or feel no need to make employee recruitment and selection a point of emphasis.
On another note, some potential strengths and weaknesses of an organization’s decision to not prioritize recruitment and selection in favor of a focus on other aspects of the business include; staffing and/or lost hiring expenses. Starting with disadvantages, when a company does not prioritize recruitment and selection in favor of a focus on other aspects of the business they can lose out on many things. These can include a loss of business, a loss of hiring expenses, and even a loss of time when having to fix mistakes from bad employees. These are all disadvantages, and oftentimes can be easy fixes when an organization prioritizes recruitment and selection. On the other hand, an advantage to this would be a higher level of staffing which can lead to more business, greater profits and so much more as well. Staffing is an important key to organizational success and can be one of the best advantages for many reasons like I mentioned earlier!
