Culture Site: Ruchi Sanghvi April 11th, 2012

Ruchi Sanghvi grew up in India, where a rich and vibrant history is constantly in interplay with modern day ideals about women, roles, and achievement. Her adult life led her to the United States where she attended college, graduating with a degree in Electrical Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon, and moved on to become the first female engineer at Facebook, then just a startup in a dingy room in Palo Alto, California.
Ms. Sanghvi has gone on to do many great things in the world of computer engineering, from her orchestration of Facebook’s News Feed and other platforms, to her recent start of her own company, Cove, a collective work application that was very recently bought by multimillion dollar company Dropbox.
With the desire to work, and work well at the things that inspire her, Sanghvi seems to embody the Indian cultural ethos of striving for technological improvement, betterment, and exploration.
