My journey… breathing

Posted February 19th, 2010 by hallter

I spent time in the Mind Spa that is located in Snell Hall. It is a room of self-exploration that focuses on relaxation, breathing and meditation. Counseling and Psychological Services is the force behind the room.

I am fascinated with the bio-feedback program that allows you to explore meditation. I am finding that the lessons I have learned, I am using throughout the day. Learning to breath and listen to my breath is very calming and relaxing. At times when I feel stress and my shoulders start to tense, I close my eyes and really pay attention to some very deep breaths. I begin to feel very calm and centered.

I have found this a great way to relieve the stress and tension of a long week. Even if my muscles are feeling tense, they seem to feel relaxed after a visit. There are other things in the room to explore, such as a full-body massage chair.

During our busy lives full of meetings, a single hour spent restoring inner balance makes a huge difference. Try it, the Mind Spa!
