Pens and Swords

My name is Erin and this is my WR303 blog! I will be posting about all forms of art, but will focus on literature and visual art. As a highly creative individual, these topics are of great interest to me. I hope this experience will educate me about writing on a blog platform and the internet in general.

Next year, I will be taking on the role of Assistant Editor for Prism, Oregon State University’s art and literary journal. While our priority will be creating the print journal, one of my other main tasks will be running the Prism blog, Backmatter. A good portion of the posts will be submitted content, but the rest will be on me and the Editor in Chief to create. By running this blog, I hope to explore what I want to research and write for our publication. However, this blog will likely have a personal edge, as it’s a chance for my own self-expression, and my Backmatter posts will be journalism-based.

I believe the audience for this blog is anyone who enjoys creativity. I plan on exploring both creations and the artists behind it, as well as the connections between art and current events. Some posts will showcase types of visual art I rarely see discussed in an artistic format- food, makeup, interior design, and landscaping. I’m also planning on exploring literature, especially poetry. I may even include some of my own. I hope this page is interesting and inspiring to those who come across it!
