Important email from our good friend Eric Cerino:
Sorry to bother you with another email today, but I’ve been meaning to send this to you for awhile now! Now that spring term is done and the summer months have arrived, I wanted to reach out to you about September’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We’ve had some conversations about it before, but I wanted to send the details to you in hope that you consider joining this year’s walk! I remember how generous you were last year with your donation, and I want you to know how thankful I am and everyone on the planning committee is for your contribution:)
If you are interested in joining our team this year, here’s some information regarding how to join and what is involved!

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. A couple years ago, I created an OSU walk team, Beavers Unite Against Alzheimer’s, made up of OSU students, faculty, staff, families, and friends! Our Willamette Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s is on Sunday, September 16th, 2018 in Timber-Linn Park, Albany, OR.

Here’s the link to our team page, Beavers Unite Against Alzheimer’s:

Registering is free, but the purpose of the walk is to raise as much money for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research as possible. The team set-up makes it a friendly competition to see which team can raise the most money starting now until walk day! Basically, each individual team member fundraises and each team member’s fundraising dollars add up to a total amount raised by our team. This amount adds to every other team in the walk that ends up equalling a ton of money for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research! I figured if we have team members sign up now, we have the summer months to fundraise as much as we can!

As a team last year, we raised over $3,000 for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research; and were the Top Fundraising Organization Team in our Willamette Valley walk. I’m confident we can reach this number and more with your help and this year’s team members!

Similar to last year, we have a lot of fun fundraising events in the works. On Tuesday, August 7th, we have a fundraiser at Chipotle (Monroe Ave in Corvallis) and on Tuesday, September 4th, we have a dine out fundraising event at Block 15 (South Corvallis Tap Room) where a portion of all food sales will go to our team. I’m also working on getting us all Beavers Unite Against Alzheimer’s t-shirts! I will keep you and all team members updated.

In the meantime, individual fundraising will help us reach our team goals fast!
Sharing your individual walk page on facebook, twitter, emailing to friends, co-workers etc. really helps fundraising efforts. And the Alzheimer’s Association has awesome individual fundraising incentives (e.g., $100 gets a free t-shirt, and then incredible prizes once you reach $300, $500, $750… and so on. I’ve attached the incentives to this email!

Please let me know if you have any questions at all! It’s events like this that generate the hope that so many individuals and families need as they face the hardships Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias impose on their lives. I would love it if you joined us:)
Talk to you soon and hope you have a great rest of your day!
