MLK Day of Service

Join Community and Engagement and Leadership as a Site Leader for the Dr. Martin Luther King’s Day of Service, on January 18th, 2020! The Day of Service is an opportunity for individuals to come together and honor the legacy of Dr. King. There are various options to choose from as a Site Leader, along with a 2-hour training. Sign up for a Site Leader Training today and join the Day of Service!

Apply for the Summer Health Professions Education Program

The application for the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is now open! This is a free six week summer program for first and second year college students from underrepresented and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in health careers. Room and board is free and students are paid a $600 stipend. Students will have the opportunity to make connections and learn about careers in the health field! Deadline to apply is February 5, 2020.

Join our Peer Advisor Team

The Office of Student Success is accepting applications for Peer Advisors for the 2020-2021 academic year! Peer Advisors are responsible for working at the front desk of the Office of Student Success, supporting fellow students with registration, job prep, and more. Peers also perform tours and assist with outreach during orientations and other campus visits. Apply or ask questions today! Deadline to apply is January 17, 2020.

Study Abroad Open Advising Event

Are you interested in going abroad in 2020? Take the first step in the process and RSVP to the open advising event on January 15, 2020, from 11-1:00 pm in the MU Horizon Room. Lunch will be provided and students will be able to ask all of their questions about Study Abroad, Faculty Led Programs, and International Internships.

Coach Youth Basketball

The Corvallis Parks and Recreation still needs coaches for youth basketball! Coaches will be with youth in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Practices begin this week (January 6th) and the season will go through mid-March. Contact Robert Thornberg if you are interested.

HFC Pilot Grant Awards: Extended deadline!

The Hallie E. Ford Center for Health Children & Families requests pilot grant applications focused on issues relevant to one or more research cores within the center. Maximum awards are $12,000 and applications are now due January 31, 2020. Research teams must include faculty from at least two program areas in CPHHS and may include faculty outside the college. Team members from other colleges may not serve as project Principal Investigators. Contact Dr. Megan McClelland for more information!

Study Abroad Opportunities

Have you ever thought about studying abroad? There are two opportunities you should consider! One is a two-week summer course studying Civil & Human Rights in the Deep South, and the other is a semester-long program on Gender, Race, & Class in London. Both of these programs offer bacc core credits and upper division credits. For more information about the programs and how they can apply to your degree, contact Dr. Susan Shaw.

OSU Scholar Dollars: CPHHS Undergraduate Scholarships

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship Cycle is going on now! Applications will be accepted until Saturday, February 15th, 2020. These scholarships will be for the 2020-2021 academic year. By submitting this one application, you will be considered for hundreds of OSU scholaship opportunities!

CPHHS Scholarship Opportunity

The Margaret Dowell- Gravatt, MD, Scholarship is to encourage and support ethnic minority graduate women enrolled in the College of Science and pursuing a BA or BS degree in Biology, Zoology, Microbiology, or any of the following Pre-Health program: Medical Technology, Medicine, Nursing, Physical and/or Occupational Therapy. Students must be enrolled full-time at the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level, have a GPA of 2.5 overall, and a 3.0 GPA in science courses required in the major field or Pre-Health curriculum in which the student is enrolled. The deadline is January 13, 2020 at 5:00 pm. Apply today!

OSU Healthy Aging Club

Students of all majors are welcome to the Healthy Aging Club! Students will have the opportunity to learn about careers in aging, interact with elders in our community, and gain experience for graduate school, professional school and programs, or work beyond college. Meetings are held at least bi-monthly and you can contact Club President Billy Tran for more information.

Student Health Services (SHS) is a great resource for students that is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the OSU community.
