Cooking with Kids

Volunteer with Cooking with Kids! This is a family nutrition class for parents and their 8-12 year old children. Families receive information, tools, and recipes to help them enjoy healthier meals, and take home a dinner each week to share with their family. Volunteers will help with class set up, preparation, activities, and clean up. Classes are Wednesdays through March 11 in Milam 205 from 4:45-7:00 pm.

Personal Training Internship Opportunity

Don’t miss the chance to hear from Emily Gavin, the wellness manager from Pro Club in Bellevue, Washington. She will give you details about Pro Club, an outstanding wellness center that offers personal trainers, aquatics, massage, and youth services. Emily will also tell you about Pro Club’s internship opportunities that may lead to job offers. The presentation will be on Monday, February 10 at 3:00 pm in Gilkey 108. National Capital Area Leadership Award

The OSU Alumni Association offers the National Capital Area Leadership Award to assist OSU students who are eager to experience life in our nation’s capital. The ideal student applicant will work in a congressional or judicial office, government agency, non-profit organization or association, or private organization in the Washington, D.C. area. Undergraduate students may apply for a $3,500 internship scholarship for spring or summer term. Applications are due February 10 by 5:00 pm to the OSU Alumni Association. Consider Studying Abroad

Do you love to travel? Are you interested in learning about other cultures and earning credit at the same time? Consider joining CPHHS faculty in studying abroad! This summer students can travel to London or Botswana, and this fall spend 10 weeks in Taiwan and India. For all of these programs, applications must be submitted by Sunday, March 1. Contact Theresa Cuenca if you are interested in learning more or have any questions. Plus, attend the Botswana and Taiwan-India programs information session on Tuesday, February 4 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Nonprofit & Public Service Fair

The Nonprofit & Public Service Fair is a great opportunity for students to meet representatives from over 50 local and regional nonprofits and local government agencies representing a wide variety of fields who are seeking OSU students for volunteer, internship, and job opportunities. Come learn about the ways volunteering and civic engagement advance your leadership and career readiness skills. The fair will be on Thursday, February 20 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the MU Ballroom.

Kathleen F. and Edward H. Health Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship opportunity requires students to be currently enrolled at OSU or LBCC who resumed their studies after a minimum one-year break in their education; demonstrated an interest to improve legal, political, economic, educational, health or professional status of women or willingness to work in a job or profession involving the welfare of children and women; be enrolled in at least 9 credits; and be residing in Oregon. The application includes an essay and academic transcript. Visit the Zonta Service Foundation of Corvallis website for additional forms and information on the scholarship. The application deadline is March 6.

Pre-Health Professions Information Session

The Pre-Health Professions Information Session is coming up, and is great for all CPHHS majors in the early stages of exploring health professions. Each session has two dates, February 4 and February 19. Sessions include Pre-Nursing, Pre-Physician Assistant, and Pre-med. Listening Sessions on CPHHS

Dean Javier Nieto invites you to upcoming listening sessions focused on the organizational structure of the CPHHS. These sessions will open a broad conversation with college faculty, staff and students about the strengths and challenges of the current two-school structure, and to hear your thoughts and ideas about ways that we could optimize efficiency and support while continuing to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, in accordance with our strategic plan and CEPH accreditation criteria. All sessions will be in the Hallie Ford Center 115, and available via Zoom. Sessions will take place on February 5 from 2-4:00 pm, February 6 from 8:30-10:30 am, February 10 from 3-5:00 pm, and February 18 from 10-12:00 pm.

KidSpirit is Now Hiring

KidSpirit is currently interviewing students for their Summer Day Camp 2020! Students of all majors and levels of experience are encouraged to apply to make a positive impact in the lives of children grades K-12 this summer. Students will lead youth as they go on adventures, create masterpieces, and have barrel of laughs. Job positions include camp counselors, office staff, and head instructors for sports and physical education, art, science, archery, gymnastics, culinary arts and nutrition, and much more. Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship

The OSU Alumni Association and office of Community Engagement & Leadership are now accepting nominations and applications for the Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship. This fund is dedicated to provide scholarships for OSU students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year who are actively involved with activities beyond class work, demonstrating they are well-rounded, contributing members of the OSU community. The scholarship fund will award three students with a onetime, $1,000 scholarship. Application deadline is February 16, 2020. For more information, contact Peter Wilkinson.

Substance Abuse and Addiction Research Internship Opportunity

The NIDA Summer Research Internship Program introduces undergraduate students, with a goal of increasing underrepresented groups in biomedical and behavioral sciences, to substance abuse and addiction research. Through this, students will conduct substance abuse and addiction research by participating in internships with NIDA funded scientists at universities across America. This is a paid, 8-week, hands-on research opportunity. The application deadline is February 10, 2020.

OSU Scholar Dollars: CPHHS Undergraduate Scholarships

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship Cycle is going on now! Applications will be accepted until Saturday, February 15th, 2020. These scholarships will be for the 2020-2021 academic year. By submitting this one application, you will be considered for hundreds of OSU scholarship opportunities!

OSU Healthy Aging Club

The Healthy Aging Club invites students of all disciplines to learn about careers in aging, interact with elders in our community, and gain experience for graduate school, professional school and programs, or work beyond college. Meetings are held at least bi-monthly during Fall, Winter, and Spring term. Contact club president, Billy Tran, for more information.

Career Development Center

The Career Development Center at OSU is available for all students to have access to resources that will transform them into career-ready graduates.
