Join our Peer Advisor Team

The Office of Student Success is accepting applications for Peer Advisors for the 2020-2021 academic year! Peer Advisors are responsible for working at the front desk of the Office of Student Success, supporting fellow students with registration, job prep, and more. Peers also perform tours and assist with outreach during orientations and other campus visits. Apply or ask questions today! Deadline to apply is January 17, 2020.

HFC Pilot Grant Awards: Extended deadline!

The Hallie E. Ford Center for Health Children & Families requests pilot grant applications focused on issues relevant to one or more research cores within the center. Maximum awards are $12,000 and applications are now due January 31, 2020. Research teams must include faculty from at least two program areas in CPHHS and may include faculty outside the college. Team members from other colleges may not serve as project Principal Investigators. Contact Dr. Megan McClelland for more information!

Donation Drive: API and the Centro Give Back!

By Friday, December 12th, donate to the API and the Centro Give Back donation drive. Donation bins are set up at the APCC and CCCC; donations will go to support the South Corvallis Food Bank. Items they are taking include: nonperishable items, personal care items, and children’s clothing. Donate today!

SDO Recruitment: Women in STEM

Sigma Delta Omega is an unhoused, interest-based, social sorority here at Oregon State for womxn in STEM. Our main focuses are encouraging academic excellence, professional development, and community service. Our philanthropy is OSU STEM Academy, which aims to provide K-12 STEM programs here in the Corvallis area. Personal Trainer Prep I Course

This winter, take the Personal Trainer Prep I Course through Rec Sports. The class will run on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8:30 pm and on Friday afternoons from 2:00-5:00 pm. This is a six week course, running from January 15th to February 21st. Their is a fee, but those who demonstrate financial need, their is a fee waiver available. Apply at Recreation Services within Dixon or online.

Study Abroad Opportunities

Have you ever thought about studying abroad? There are two opportunities you should consider! One is a two-week summer course studying Civil & Human Rights in the Deep South, and the other is a semester-long program on Gender, Race, & Class in London. Both of these programs offer bacc core credits and upper division credits. For more information about the programs and how they can apply to your degree, contact Dr. Susan Shaw.

NUTR 216: Food in Non-Western Culture

Are you a “foodie” and/or someone who loves to travel and explore new cultures? If so, this fun, 3-credit, Bacc Core Ecampus Course class is for you! The term project is to design a fact-based 2-week Food Travel Guide Blog based on part of the world you’re interested in exploring; plus there is no midterm or final!

OSU Scholar Dollars: CPHHS Undergraduate Scholarships

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship Cycle is going on now! Applications will be accepted until Saturday, February 15th, 2020. These scholarships will be for the 2020-2021 academic year. By submitting this one application, you will be considered for hundreds of OSU scholaship opportunities!

PAC 299: Coaching for Youth Programs

Are you interested in Positive Youth Development (PYD) programs? If so, you should consider taking PAC 299 next term! This one credit class introduces students to the PYD model, and to the main topics relevant to working with youth such as lesson planning, group management, effective communication, and building relationships. This course is also part of the REAL Undergraduate Experiential Learning credits. Class meetings will be Monday/Wednesday from 11-11:50 am during winter term, and the CRN is 40735.

Be Part of an Important Research Study!

Researchers from the College of Public Health and Human Sciences are planning to do a study measuring the whole-body vibration exposures, motion sickness, comfort and usability of three different automobile seats in a laboratory-based study. Participants will be asked to sit on three different seats while field-measured vibration data are played on a vibration platform for about 4-5 hours, and will be paid $25 per hour. If you are interested, contact the Occupational Ergonomics and Biomechanics Lab.

CPHHS Scholarship Opportunity

The Margaret Dowell- Gravatt, MD, Scholarship is to encourage and support ethnic minority graduate women enrolled in the College of Science and pursuing a BA or BS degree in Biology, Zoology, Microbiology, or any of the following Pre-Health program: Medical Technology, Medicine, Nursing, Physical and/or Occupational Therapy. Students must be enrolled full-time at the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level, have a GPA of 2.5 overall, and a 3.0 GPA in science courses required in the major field or Pre-Health curriculum in which the student is enrolled. The deadline is January 13, 2020 at 5:00 pm. Apply today!

Wellness Nook at OSU

The Wellness Nook is a welcoming and comfortable place to learn, ask questions, and connect to resources for well-being. Stop by Monday-Thursday in the MU, Room 62.
