Tuyen Nguyen is a senior majoring in business information systems at Oregon State University. She is passionate about data analytics. Outside the school, she is taking courses from online websites (365DataScience, LinkedIn, and DataCamp) to learn more about Python, SQL, data analytics, data pipeline, and data engineering. Her next step is to find an internship related to data analytics.

WORK EXPERIENCE

IT Systems Analyst Intern at Oregon Department of Transportation (June – December 2021)

• Took initiative to explore the system and conducted functional tests to design test cases, scenarios, and scripts
• Collaborated with officers, analysts, and vendors to define requirements and design testing plans and strategies
• Validated system to ensure that the system met the business requirements
• Reported the test progress, results, and system issues to quality assurance lead

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Programming Project: Building 3 Python Applications: Developed financial goal calculator, an inventory calculator, and retrieving real-time stock data application from the website using Python in Visual Studio Code


Course Group Project: ETL Data from Spreadsheet to Access Database
• Created the database and tables in Microsoft Access database, then defined keys and relationships between tables
• Programmed with Python to extract data from 50 spreadsheets and load the data to the database
• Took initiative to make essential changes and completed tasks before the deadline a week

Course Group Project: Data Analysis and Visualization with Tableau
Downloaded data components from the IPUMS website, then implemented data filtering and sampling in Excel
• Utilized multiple regression model and visualized data using Tableau to find the factors that affected the total income
• Wrote a report about methods and concepts of the model

Individual Project: Hotel Database Management and Visualization
• Designed and developed a hotel database
• Developed SQL code for backups, stored procedures, user-defined functions, transactions, indexes, and views using T-SQL in Microsoft SQL Server
• Created a pipeline to automate loading data from CSV data file to SQL Server database and creating dashboards in Power BI

Individual Python Project: Sales Data Analysis with Pandas Library
• Gathered 12 CSV files from GitHub to a single file in Jupyter Notebook
• Cleaned data to avoid data duplication and invalid values with Pandas library, then analyzed data to answer questions
about revenues, locations, and products sold
• Visualized data using the Matplotlib library
