We quantified the connection between the atmosphere and the snowpack via pressure fluctuations at the snow-atmosphere interface.  This connection is responsible for gas advection through the snow and influences snow ablation (melting and sublimation). Our new measurements challenge traditional theories, and show a much deeper connection than originally postulated.
