The Student Events and Activities Center is excited to present the annual Beaver Community Fair at the Memorial Union Quad from 12:00-4:00p.m. Annually, this event draws together well over 2000 community members to celebrate the start of another academic year.   Sponsored by the Corvallis Gazette-Times, this year’s Fair will feature music provided by your student radio – KBVR FM, free massages throughout the fair, food samples  - including pasta, breads, popcorn, Italian sodas, Pepsi products, fruits & veggies  – and door prize drawings throughout the event!

The Beaver Community Fair is a great opportunity to explore some of the 350+ recognized clubs and student organizations at OSU.   Student leaders are excited to share information about their organizations with you in hopes of sparking your interest.  A range of OSU departments will be present to provide an overview of programs, services and resources available to students.  Finally, a myriad of Corvallis area businesses and agencies will attend in hopes of educating the OSU community about the services and products they offer and how you can connect with their respective organizations.  Come out and explore how you can get involved with something that matters to you.

Come to explore.  Come to eat.  Come to learn.  Come to Engage.  Come to learn.  Come get involved with the Beaver Community.   We will look forward to seeing you on the MU Quad!

Door prize drawings will occur every 30 minutes beginning at 12:30pm.  Come to the main information booth in the middle for the Quad with your student ID free entry into the drawing.

The Memorial Union Organization is hosting a ComMUnity Block Party on Monday (September 19, 2011)  to welcome our new students to campus. Below is the list of activities that we will have going on in the quad and around campus throughout the day!

12:00pm-12:00am Activities in the MU Basement

… Come see what The Basement has to offer! During CONNECT Week, you will enjoy $1 Bowling and will have the opportunity to play billiards, darts, and shuffleboard with your friends. Also, don’t forget to check out the video games and the one-of-a-kind Beaver Den!

1:00pm-4:00pm Block Party in the Quad

Come hang out with the students that make up the Memorial Union Family. Enjoy the pools, sun, free food, music and fun activities including a water obstacle course!

1:00pm-3:30pm – Scavenger Hunt

Learn about some great involvement opportunities on campus while having fun, meeting other students and exploring campus. Teams will get their passports stamped when visiting participating departments and programs. Those with completed passports can enter a drawing for fun prizes. Don’t worry if you don’t already have a team. We’ll create one for you! Teams may start the hunt anytime between 1-3:30pm as long as they finish by 4pm.

3:30pm – Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament

Think you can emerge as the OSU Rock Paper Scissors champion? Players you defeat will become a part of your entourage and cheer you on (as will the entourage that they built up). The winner will receive a trophy and be featured in the Orange Out the Quad photo following the competition (so don’t forget to wear your orange to this event!).

4:00pm – Orange Out the Quad

Are you a Beaver Believer? Gather your friends and come sporting your Orange Beaver Gear to participate in the first ever “Orange Out the Quad”! Help create OSU’s newest tradition!

7:00pm-9:00pm International Dance Lessons

Come learn dances from around the world! Our international students will be teaching participants traditional dances from their home country. A new dance will be taught each half an hour. Bring your friends and don’t miss out on the fun!

8:30pm – 10:45pm Battle of the DJs and Dance

Decide which DJ is your favorite and dance along in the MU Quad as DJs mix and mash a variety of music in a friendly competition.
