On Tuesday, October 19th, award winning screenwriter Mike Rich will speak and answer questions in the Memorial Union Lounge. He will start at 4PM that day.

An OSU alum and renowned screen writer, Mike is known for his movies such as Finding Forester, The Rookie and this year’s Secretariat.

October 19th is also the launcher of this year’s Campus Movie Fest. This is a national event where students form teams and give a packet of film making equipment and one week to create a 5 minute film. The top 4 OSU winners will move on to the national judging. 1. I just caught Secretariat – it beats Seabiscuit hands down. It’s unusual to find a dramatist who has made a career out of writing sports films – not generally my kind of thing, but if they’re all as authentic as this latest one I’ll have to look out more of his work.

  2. I have a terrific story about my father, John, whose parents came to this country from Poland individually. They met in Jerome, Arizona and started a family. Their first son, John was born in 1917 and he grew up in Yerington, Nevada. When a senior in high school they played Las Vegas for the football championship in 1936. Yerington 120 students beat Las Vegas over 700 students 9-0. It was a David and Goliath story that I wish I could contact Mike Rich to talk to my father (95 years old) about writing a sports story about this awesome true miricle. If anyone can help me please contact me at 1-775-738-3991 or cell…..775-385-9588
