Sally Fox was a very successful woman and enjoyed her work. She was in the Peach Corps and got sent to the Gambia in West Africa. When Sally returned, she obtained a Master’s degree in Integrated Pest Management from the University of California. She learned about colored cotton while working for a cotton breeder. Colored cotton was not strong enough for modern machine spinning, only hand spun. Sally figured out how to make it work and now there’s a lot of naturally coloured cotton. After starting her own business, Sally was producing cotton for big companies like Espirit, Levi’s, Land’s End, L.L. Bean, and more. This invention was environmentally safe all around and not as strenuous labor.
