I do believe that each of us has different company that has been our role model or ideal company because we think the company is pretty successful in the market or think that we want to have and build a company like that company in the future. Mine is Walmart, because it is one of the retails company in this big country that is well known of its successes in the market because of having cost differentiation because they can provide lower price rather than the other retail stores. Where we can have the same product but pay less. Also, most of their stores are basically open 24 hours and their stores spread within the states in the United States. Based on the article that I have found titled “Jury Awards Over $125 Million in EEOC Disability Discrimination Case Against Walmart”, from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission official website explained that Walmart decided to fire Marlo Spaeth because of having down syndrome. It happened when Walmart fail to meet her request working hours because of having health issue and fired her instead. Marlo had worked to Walmart for more than 15 years, her work performance were worthy to be praised from the managers because she did many great jobs. But, she got rejected when wanted to get back to Walmart because of her disability. After reading the article, it changed my perspective toward Walmart as a company that makes me pretty amazed with its performance in the market. However, it would not influence my decisions to support the company because I do believe that people can change and Walmart included. After getting some penalties that brought disadvantage to Walmart, I am expecting that they can learn from their mistakes and make it a lesson that can make them to be a better company in managing their human resources. It would not whether or not I applied to work for that company in the future because I do believe that there are many other aspects and positive sides that I still can learn from the company that makes them superior than the competitors. I do not want to focus on how big problem that they caused in the past, but I want to focus how they can change and learn from their mistakes in the past that totally can make them to be a better company in the future.
