Hi everyone, my name is Kezia Tanoeyadi and currently I am working at one of the organizations on campus and the name is Community Engagement and Leadership. In the community, I am having a role as event specialist who is responsible to plan, manage and organize the events that community will host. Also, another responsibility of my job is I need to lead or facilitate the event and help the students or participants to be more engaged in the activities. I have been working in the community for more than 1 year because I started working in the community from Winter 2021 until present. My experience from the perspective of an applicant for my job is pretty good and I do love my job even though this job is my first job. Where, I need to pass several recruiting process, like submit the resume, cover letter, and fill the form. After that, I got an appointment for interview and after several days I got announcement about the result. All the processed I did the process online that was via email and zoom because at that time, the pandemic was pretty intense. In addition, when I was starting working in the organization, I need some adjustment especially with time management and got adapted with the working situation. Furthermore, in the community, we are divided into two different teams that has supervisor in each team. One is for event and another one is program specialist. I am in the event team and another thing that I love from the community is they try to match our field of interest or passion or creativity with the tasks or projects. Thus, for my own perspective, we can do the task more enjoyable and love to do the task because we do something that we love. In addition, I love the mechanism of the leadership style in the community, where each team will have weekly meeting to evaluate and maintain the performance from each student employee. Also, we have 1:1 meeting, that is the meeting between one student employee and the supervisor. In 1:1 meeting, we can talk more detail and be the way for the supervisor to know more about the student employees. Additionally, through the meeting, we can talk about the factors (internal or external) that make us stress and the supervisor will discuss and help us to figure out about the solution or alternatives. Therefore, it shows how care the organization toward the student employees and for me personally, I feel like I am home because they treat the employees not like employees but family with their warmth. For example, during 1:1 meeting, the first thing that my supervisor asks me is not the progress of the work or how many hours that I am willing to work this week or any other work related. But, the first thing is how is my school or life as general. Also, the supervisor prioritizes the employees’ mental health by applying the flexibility of the employees’ working hours. That changed my impression of working, where in the community, all of us are family and we can be who we really are, just like home. Home is the place where we can be who we really are and be the final destination. Thus, when we feel comfortable and happy to work, I do believe it will increase the productivity of our work. T
