HR Within

I have recently looked into these 3 companies, Hilton, Intuit Inc., and American Express. In this assignment, we had to see what makes these companies great to work for.

As I start off with Hilton, you can see employees are really passionate about the work culture. A big part of this is how diverse it is working for Hilton. Meeting people outside your own religion, ethnic background, etc. One of the biggest things that ties Hilton to being the #1 on the charts is their benefits to their employees. 1. being they provide healthcare, retirement plans, and travel discounts. If we are tying this back into our lecture notes from this week we see this is important to “managing the ethics”, the “people matter”, and “external opportunity.” This is what Hilton does I can see, they want you to succeed outside of the company as well, which is big from any employer.

Next, I looked into Intuit Inc., they are also a very interesting company that is #11 on the list. One of the biggest factors that Intuit gives is the fact that many of their employees love to think outside of the box and find different solutions. Another big factor is the company’s strong values. Which are integrity, respect, and a strong commitment to customer success. This company is so well known, and coming back to the lecture points, we can see this: we talked about the “Strategic Planning Process.” This is what really brings in a lot of employers wanting to work for Intuit.

Lastly, American Express. When looking into American Express, I was very curious about what they do and the company as a whole to really help their employees out. But just like the other two, they are really focused on a strong company culture. Their employees love to talk about when they are working, they feel valued and appreciated through their hard work. This is a very big factor but now you have these employees really wanting to work because they love feeling valued. The biggest one is they get compensation, which they strive for. This includes salary bonuses, health insurance, and PTO. And I truly feel like this is everything we talk about in this class of HR. This is how employers should be treated without a doubt in my mind.

As a manager, I’d like to create an environment where my employees feel valued, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. The HR functions and activities discussed in lectures, such as promoting diversity, offering strong benefits, and recognizing employee achievements, will pretty much be the core to my leadership approach. I believe fostering an inclusive and ethical workplace, much like Hilton, will encourage collaboration and innovation. Also, understanding strategic planning, as seen with Intuit, will help me align employee development with company goals, ensuring both personal and organizational success.
