Kent Sumner, is assistant director for marketing and assessment for the Memorial Union at Oregon State University (since 1998). Besides coordinating research & assessment for OSU’s student union, he is a member of the university’s Student Affairs Assessment Council and is involved in many of the division-wide and campus-wide assessment projects. In the past, he has presented sessions on both assessment and marketing topics at ACUI, NASPA and NIRSA conferences.
As an advisor to the MU organization, Kent helps units promote their programs and provide tools for assessing their programs. He oversees a group of graphic design and media students and manages the Union’s permanent art collection. He works closely with the OSU University Marketing, College of Business School of Design and the OSU Art Department.
Kent has always been involved in the arts, as well as having a business background. Before coming to work at OSU, He worked as a high school teacher, gallery director, photographer and business manager. His wife is a professional artist who shows her work nationally.
