Self Assessment….

I would say that this class helped me realize what a true blogger is and how to use it in the way that you don’t need to have everyone in the world look at you posts to be successful because bloggers feed of each other and many might be writing close to the same subject that you are or perhaps they use your work as their own. The way that I am going to continue using this type of communication to my audience is by speaking of my journeys through life since I am graduating I wish to speak of what it is like going out into the real world on my own. I think that with my voice and personality throughout the entire term I have wrapped my mind about the way of catching the reader and delivering the facts in way of not a news paper but more of an entertaining generation. I would say my effort for this class was very good in the sense that I had fun taking this class because it was entreating to me. It is almost like having your own radio show for people to check in and listen while also being able to have the option of giving feedback right away if they wish.

I would love to talk about Kobe, I will admit first off it does not take a genius to figure out that he is a very dominate basketball player. Just to get that out there because everyone and their mother talks about who is the better player between Lebron and him, but Lebron is better. Anyways let’s bring the focus back on Kobe and the fact that he cheats on his wife on a regular bases I’m sure he is very similar to the “sex god” Tiger. To look back on the rape trial that he had in 2009 because she was under the legal age of consent. I think that it was blown a little out of proportion because it was only a kiss, but that’s all you need when you are a millionaire and someone wants a little money in their pocket. I can still remember the famous quote that he had during the trial, “if he could turn back the hands of time” I think all of us could use that line, but what was he thinking when he had a wife in the first place, a side note you might know of recently she just decided to leave him, what the heck took her so long?

Blogging Week #7

Sasquatch

Although this might be a fictional character to some that roams the United States always being seen but never quite close enough to get a for sure look. To others such as me including it reminds me of one of the biggest concerts on the Northwest. This is almost as if it is a modern day “Woodstock’ dare I say even though this could never have the same historic event. This is basically six concert stages scattered around the bank of the Columbia River in the George Washington. This is such a great experience no matter what type of music that you are interested in, from large named bands even to small ones that started here in Oregon or Washington. They also have from any genre rock, hip hop, R&B, techno, rave and even indie music so no matter what there is something to find. This event takes place every Memorial Day weekend and starts the 25th of this month. If the music doesn’t catch your attention then the beautiful back ground of the stage its self will because you get to look over the river and see the gorgeous farm land that is surrounding the little city that was created over night by the festival.

Popular Culture

When seeing how society is affected by popular culture it the way that is needed to fully full fill the American way. Even when we are children this life style is visible. No matter if you live it or not you know it affects your life if you have to believe in that system. The life of the high class is what you see in mass media to always have you trying to live the life where the materials that you have are how you are valued in life, also what comes along with more capabilities in society. I think that the way that technology is progressing we constantly have it at our finger tips with the wireless, and internet compatible “smart phones” has made it so you must have. This is shown in Marxism as well to show how the “model” people are not to look bad, as ugly, or out of shape. It is hard to exactly pin point what popular culture is because that it depends on what group it directly affects. For example the Disney films is very commonly used to show what is needed to complete the puzzle of both how a man and a women are supposed to live or interaction with one another.

Nation of Sports

When talking about sports and how much it is glorified not just here in our own country but I believe it is the same as everywhere else. I have a little theory on why this has been imprinted into our brains obviously some feel more strongly about this than others. I think it dates by long before sports such as baseball, football or even soccer was created. The Olympic Games dating back to the Romans it was always glorified as a real “man” if you are able to compete in such competition it is a type of battle, at what comes along with winning a battle, you can earn honor and courage. In Modern times we view sports as the best of the best, a professional, and when I think of that word I assume that someone is close to or flawless. This means more than just the sport that they play; you are also very well off financially, you have a fan base of people that you might not even know but they cherish your abilities, so the popularity is what makes the fame and fame is what everyone wants no matter what stage they are on in society.

Facebook

As I am sure that most of everyone might know about the recent dispute that this social media company has been dealing with. I think that the reason why this has not only become as sock to the company’s creators and the public is because I don’t think they fully understood what this type of technology was capable of. This is the fastest and most efficient way for mass communication since the creation of radio in the United States. But the best part of this social media tool is that there are no limits for this in the world, no matter where you are or the time of day it is visible at anytime. There is no thought in my mind that the stock of this company will go up, it was recently recorded that it reached $38 although that this might not seem this much but it started at $4. This is only going to go up if it hasn’t already as we speak, since it is associated with Pandora and Groupon it makes it that much easier for you to always be linked to the glorious social media site.

http://marketday.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/18/11754901-facebook-shares-start-trading-with-modest-gains?lite

Disney and Childhood Films

At first glance the films seem to be nothing at all, just you normal everyday children’s movie that you trust for them to see. Especially during “The Lion King” it is enchanting the way of life that they have as a lion family. It was in the perfect form with every individual being happy with their way of life, or as it seemed. The film is able to iron out all the misconceptions that come from the film when it comes to a child’s mind they are unconscious to diverse use of stereotyping. It is an unfortunate consequence of our civilizations history that “The Lion King” film is used as almost a leaning tool in our society, when we really were not looking at what was being taught. Then in the film Aladdin comes with the same aspects or goals that you want to pursue in life as the Disney way, it just starts with nothing for him and then builds up to everything. Although now of days the film seem to be un-enchanting because we know the true meaning behind the film and the sudden demeaning remarks, but this is a necessity for ones intellectual well being to progress pass childhood. After all these films are supposed to help us think about how to influence our contemporary living, of how we should act and look in society. I plan to elaborate and examine these factors and more to assess the importance of thoughts in class.

I would say one that right away stood out in my mind was in the Online Journalism Wikis there are the basic ones that you need to know that basically comes with anytime you are talking about any other individuals work. The way that you need “Be honest” is an important one to me just for the clarification of the train of thought the writer is having, and it also lets you know if it has some truth in it or not. Another that I thought about was the independence, as mentioned in “Ethics Guidelines for Poynter Publishing” which is a key point I believe in making certain blogs the defining moment in what makes me stay or go to another site. For one it helps you stay focused on the point and helps you stay respectable to readers and other writers.

If I was to come across any other person that is taking my own accomplishments and using them as your own, I would be furious. The best way that I would be able to explain this is, not only for one is against everything rule in the book but imagine if you had your phone stolen from you and you had a GPS on it. You were able to track it down and you comfort the individual about taking your phone, and they deny it and say it was their own. Nothing else is worse than this or looked more down upon, no respect and selfish.

1) I think first off that this game is going to be very popular because of the fact that that there has not been a completely new game out in over two years. This type of game interest me personally because this is the first game that I ever played online, and is also known to be the game that helped build the X Box and the multiplayer capability. To say that is will affect the Presidential election is just downright wrong, the relevance of the two are just so far apart that you cannot really think that this is accurate.

http://www.blogs.com/2012/05/03/best-in-blogs-are-the-dodgers-worth-more-than-the-scream-plus-how-halo-4-could-sway-the-presidential.html

2) I love to go on this website and see people that I know I saw this guy at a local establishment only because my friend had a little run into this specific individual. Although I will not use the same type of language that they use on “The Dirty” but this person thinks very highly of him and was trying to attack the person that I was with while he was trying to use the rest room. During the conflict he proceeded on about how he can’t be touched and tearing his shirt off to show his intimidation. I think this site is right thought was a little man with little man problems at Applebee’s.

http://thedirty.com/2011/10/ifes-about-to-get-hard-for-this-dbag/#comments

3) I would say that the big “Roche” knows a little bit of what he is talking about, when he is referring to the way that music is able to make people come together. This is just another way that it makes you never get off of this website. I personally think that Facebook has everything you could ever want if you are a social network user. But I really do not know how successful this new way of interaction but I rarely see it very often for people to share.

https://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=10150457932027131

4) After reading the little content that he had about the horror film that would be if Disney was to try to interact that film. I have seen that that film and let’s just say I I know the point that he is getting across. I have not only seen most of the films that that Disney has created, but I also have done some research about the thoughts of the American way that Walt shows. It’s as if Disney could show the “Taxi Driver” and get away with the discrimination that they already do.

http://boingboing.net/2012/05/09/taxi-driver-goes-to-disneyland.html#disqus_thread

5) I have seen almost all the episodes of mad men, and I honestly have never loved Peggy and I have always thought the only reason that they have her on the show so much is because she is always the one that the others are criticizing. I can completely understand the motivation behind that because she is always the one complaining so how you could you like her.

http://blogs.amctv.com/mad-men/2012/05/season-5-episode-8-online-extras.php?t__ts=1336620645712#comments&ts=1336620958358

I would say for the Mr. Mitchell that he has a very interesting way in getting his point across but, but I think the idea is compelling and relevant to our present economic battle. I can relate to this occupy movement because back where I live in Kelso, Washington the local harbor on the Colombia River had over 500 workers almost having a riot. I think that this is an exact form of journalism just by going through and picking stories about the rich and the pour, he shows how the “99%” is taking the beating like it always has and will it seems. I think that for this kind of writer he is more of a popular culture type of style, just because this affects most. This notion that he states how everyone other than the 1% will is getting money stolen from them by the high taxes. I thought that the video from “West Side Story” was also a nice touch to show how long this is going on for, on another note the way it projects the issues at hand for the majority.

This is a very interesting topic about whether or not there is a fine line between the two. I think that there is honestly have many common aspects, of course depending on the material that you are dealing with. When dealing with the job of a journalist I strictly think of someone that is doing some form of an investigation about a certain individual or perhaps a certain subject. I also believe that these are things that are linked to the entertainment business where artist or actors that have the spotlight on them. When it comes to blogging this is able to cover more of a wide range of material where it can be the journalism part, while also being somewhere where you can tell your thoughts on the issue and also having the viewers being able to communicate back. For example on “http://soshable.com/pinterest-tip-vertical/” this is a blog about the correct way to use the social media tool Pinterest the best way by making the images more vertical then horizontal to increase your number of followers. This is a way for people to use pictures as the form of a post and then people that go on this site then comment about the photo. This is very important with the way that social media is being used in the world; Twitter and Facebook are both forms of blogging, is a form of logging about your personal life beings judged by who “liked” your status update. There is also another website that I put in my top five for most viewed is strictly linked to a specific area her on the Oregon State Campus that called “http://thedirty.com/category/oregon_state/page/4/ “ this is a very basic blog that does require some form of investigating to come up with the outcomes that they come up with thoughts about what type of person they are, by basically criticizing there life. This is when i think blogging steps over to the journalistic world. When dealing with strictly a journalistic point of view I think of a credible news source such a very well known source like CNN where I go to catch up on the world, “http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/22/politics/john-edwards-trial/index.html?hpt=hp_c1” this specific article is more of an update about the trouble that the ex-presidential candidate is in John Edwards is being put on trial for be charged with six felonies. You have to have a license to be a journalist and there is no way that you can react or give your point of view about the article. This is why it is hard for me to take a stand on what is what; because of the way that blogging is able to contribute to society it is a conundrum about the confusion between the two.

But the Giants have been my favorite team since I have been growing up and since they are on the other side of the U.S. this is how I am able to receive any stat, new players, or the ones that are cut from the team, so anything that I could ever want to know.

The Dirty is defiantly for the younger generation specifically for her at Oregon State University, because for me what is intriguing is because of the humor that you see being posted. Just because of that one very appealing chance that you are going to see someone that you know or seen appear on the site. Although the stories are not always necessarily accurate the fact that you can interact with the story to find out of if the truth lies beneath.

Of course this site has a totally different meaning compared to the others because I just enjoy staying updated on important matters in society, because I have a very busy schedule it is there for me at anytime. The site its self is efficient with its content while also showing video streams directly from the show for a more enhanced look.
