
Personally, one of the most important qualities I am seeking in my post grad career, is to be working for a company that not only values their products and services, but also their employees. As most of us will be working for many, many more years, it often times is a major priority for individuals to be in a workplace environment where they feel uplifted, comfortable, and respected.
When taking a look at the “Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For- 2025”, there were a few companies that really stood out to me. Delta Airlines was ranked the 15th best company to work for in 2025. Within this company, employees felt appreciated and also supported by their employers. This employee discussed how in a time of medical crisis, Delta truly stepped up and went above and beyond to ensure their family was receiving the proper support needed to be get through this difficult time. Another company that really caught my attention from this list was Comcast NBC Universal, ranked at 26th. An employee stated how there is an immense amount of opportunity for growth and promotion within this company. This is a crucial aspect for an organization, as it provides stability within employees while reducing internal turnover. Comcast NBC Universal does an excellent job at understanding each individuals goals and aspirations, and ensuring they are doing everything possible to allow their workers to achieve such. They tackle issues head on and strive to find solutions that will benefit all involved, which is an important approach to guarantee their employees feel heard and understood. (Fortune 2025)
The last corporation I will be highlighting is Hilton, ranked as the #1 company to work for. Employees have emphasized that the diversity of the team is a major contributor to the positive company culture. Learning new things about one another and their culture is an essential role in fostering an inclusive and successful workplace environment. (Fortune, 2025)
After reviewing hearing from employees of the top companies to work for, I believe that I have a pretty solid understanding of what type of manager I would like to be. One of the most important things in my opinion, is to cultivate an environment that encourages inclusivity, diversity, and respect for all individuals. Additionally, I would encourage all to be able to freely express their thoughts and opinions, as this creates a workplace where all employees feel comfortable and of importance.
However, being in a position of such leadership also creates many issues and challenges. One of the most common barriers that I believe a manager would face is the balance between strategic goals and business and employee needs. If faced with this obstacle, the possibility of an imbalance can lead to failure and hinder overall goal achievements within the company.
Overall, cultivating a diverse, positive, and open environment within the workplace is one of the main priorities of a manager.
