The Search Continues April 30th, 2012
As I said in my previous post, the woman I chose to do my culture project on is Allessandra Luchini. She is an italian woman who invented/developed a new technology that finds biomarkers in urine and blood that can detect cancer and other illnesses sooner than ever before. She has taken nanoparticles, which were used for drug delivery, and engineered them to capture things that are present in the body. Because she is 34 and is fairly new to the science and technology industry I have been having trouble finding scholarly sources in the school’s library database that will help with my research on her. I had emailed Jane Nichols (the librarian) on Wednesday, but she didn’t get back to me until Sunday night because she was out of town. She told me, as did the other librarians that I instant messaged online, to use Google Scholar because she is so new to the field. I found that this was a bigger help than the other databases and with just searching online. I’m only just searching but from what I’ve found, Allessandra sounds like an amazing woman.
Ciao for now!
