Freshman Experiences

Being a freshman at OSU has been awesome so far. A lot of people from my high school (Clackamas) are attending here as well, which isn’t exactly how I would like it, but since I live off campus, I really only have to see people when I choose to see them, which is really nice. Before I moved down to Corvallis, a lot of people told me I needed to live in the dorms so I could make a bunch of new friends and get the “dorm experience”. On the contrary, living off campus has introduced me to a whole new group of friends that I never would have met had I lived in the dorms. Only two people I hang out with on a regular basis are living in the dorms, one of which didn’t go to my high school, and the other being one of the only people from back home who I can actually enjoy hanging out with. My roommate and I have talked about it a few times, and he agrees that living off campus was by far a better choice. It’s cheaper, you get more room, you have your own kitchen, bathroom, and living room, and when it comes time to study, it’s actually quiet. Overall, my first term has been a blast and a half, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings me!
