Recently, many companies have been under fire for not having updated or accurate job descriptions for their future employees. Job descriptions are supposed to let future employees know what they will be doing with that company and what their day to day basis looks like. These companies may face harsh back fire because of incorrect job descriptions such as lawsuits for making employees do tasks that they were not aware of having to do. It is very important to make sure employees know exactly what their tasks would look like, to avoid legal action against the company. It’s also just good for the company to have employees who know exactly what they would be doing. Some employees might not be able to preform the tasks that they were unaware of, causing issues within the company.
Companies that are growing, little or small, should also make sure that their job descriptions are getting updated as things change. Change internally within the company may effect the tasks of certain employees, and not keeping those details updated might negatively impact the company as well as the employees. From a Human Resource Management perspective, it’s very important to keep track of these things so you don’t end up losing employees, which will lead the a costly turnover rate.
In order to combat these things from happening, I recommend Task-KSAO analysis method, which will apply tasks to what skills and knowledge is necessary for them. This is a great tool to keep track of which employees are capable of preforming certain job tasks.
