Biographical details of Dr. Galina Mindlin:

Galina Mindlin, M.D., Ph.D is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, and the Supervising Attending Physician in the Department of Psychiatry in St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center (Mindlin, 2009.  She is Board Certified in psychiatry and neurology and has a Ph.D in neurophysiology and neuropsychology. Dr. Mindlin is the author of numerous articles on a variety of medical topics dealing with Brain Music Therapy.

She was born and trained in Moscow, Russia. Besides her private practice in New York, she teaches at Columbia University and is a supervising attending physician in psychiatry at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital at Columbia. She is still alive right now, and is 46 years old and remains healthy. When she began learning about the human brain, she was amazed to see patterns of reminiscent music. Galina Mindlin was intrigued when former Moscow colleague Yakov Levine created a computer program. Before going into medicine, Dr. Mindlin studied the arts while growing up in Moscow. When she began learning about the human brain and she was amazed to see patterns suggestive of music. “Music and brain waves are actually very similar,” says Dr. Mindlin, “both are a combination of different frequencies and patterns”. Dr. Galina Mindlin treats patients with a variety of psychiatric illnesses in her New York City office and also offers a unique and effective treatment for patients with insomnia, anxiety, attention deficit, and mood disorders. The treatment she uses is called Brain Music Therapy (BMT) and was developed at the Moscow Medical Academy by Professor Iakov Levine (Mindlin, 2007) . Dr. Mindlin studied neurobiology and the psychophysiology of sleep, anxiety, and personality disorders with Dr. Levine in Russia. In 2004, Dr. Mindlin was granted the Exclusive Rights to provide Brain Music Therapy in the United States (Mindlin).  Brain Music Therapy is an effective, clinically proven treatment that fights insomnia, anxiety, depression, stress, and headaches, and results in improved productivity and concentration.
