Gae Aulenti peacefully sitting on the stairs with a unique smile on her face. Gae Aulenti studied in Milan and graduated in 1959,worked as an art director for a design magazine called “Casabella” from 1955-1965, and she was influenced by the philosophy of Ernesto Nathan Rogers. Her style was modest because she didn’t want the furniture to take away from the occupant. Aulenti does a lot more then just Architecture; she is involved in industrial design, urban planning and interior design. She has taught at the Universita di Venezia from 1960-1962 and Polytechnic of Milan from 1964-1967. She worked for a design company called , Zanotta, in 1963. She designed her own office and apartment in Milan, Italy in 1974, and her holiday house in Umbria, Italy on a  beautiful countryside in 1975. She entered to win the chance to transform an abandoned hotel and train station (originally designed and built by Victor Laloux in 1900) and in 1986 she finished what is now called  Musee d’Orsay. In 1992 she designed the Italian Pavilion at the world expo fair in Seville. (Emmanuel, 1980)
