Gae Aulenti uses the world around her as her muse. She believes that architecture is a “concrete, untouchable entity that uses the city as its form generator” (). Architecture exists because of the world around it – it grows through the eyes of the community and balances on the urban culture. Aulenti depends on the relationship between public and private to complete her unique design without ever undermining the subject if the design. Aulenti was one of the only architects designing in the post war period in Italy.Gae Aulenti later in life showing her stylish side with dark framed glasses.
