I have been in a couple of interviews in my time of employment where I didn’t think the recruiters did a good job at interviewing me and I have also had interviews where recruiter questions have challenged me and giving me a lot to think about once, I have left the interview. One experience that really has stood out to me is when I was interviewing for a local bar & grill in my hometown to be a cook there. The interview lasted I believe 10 minutes in total and the only question that I was asked is are you good working with a team? I answered it like a normal interview question giving it a little bit of thought but, what surprised me was after I answered that one question, the interview was over. I was shocked and relieved at the same time wondering how can you get all the information that you need to hire me by just asking one simple question. I thought the validity of an interview process wasn’t very good but, I ended up getting the job and would end up being one of the best cooks there, according to the owner.
While I didn’t think this was the best way to conduct an interview for someone. I think the owner had her reasons behind it. I did turn in a resume with my application that give a lot of information about myself and the experiences that I had but, it still made me wonder what the thought process was for this interview. Either way, I think if it works for the company and for a local bar & grill to hire individuals like that then keep doing and not worry about changing your process.
