When looking through the Fortune 2025 Best Companies list, I looked at PCL Construction, MasterCard, and CarMax. PCL construction is known for its stellar employee-ownership culture. This can foster accountability and pride in its employees. Instead of feeling like you are working for someone else, compnay ownership can feel like you are working towards growing your own company and revenue. This can amplify the levels of satisfaction workers feel in a drastic way. The inclusion in PCL’s culture has put them on top of the list which speaks a lot about the trust built between leadership and employees. When Leadership is generous with employees, there are positive outcomes that follow.

At MasterCard, it is said that there is a lot of teamwork and inclusion in the workspace. Through respect, and ethical leadership, they are able to foster community and contribution. Through the culture, employees feel seen and cared for, creating a workplace people want to work at.

CarMax is also ranked highly at #69. They have been on the list for 21 years with workers praising the values, and community. The fact that they have been on the list for 21 years speaks a lot on their HR and managment. When company values are taken seriously by managment, employees take them seriously.

These companies value engagement, culture building, and fairness. It is no surprise that the level of respect and trust from workers is correlated with management and leadership. I want to have a team when these values are seen and taken seriously. With your team on the same page about company values everyone is able to undertand one another. Ultimately the challenge comes when trying to balance worker needs and company goals. Like a lot of things in life, you have to have equal balance.
